Starved Rock
The Issue
Don Goerne, President of the Starved Rock Audobon Society, writes they need help opposing the development of a resort on Plum Island, located at the Illinois River at Starved Rock State Park near Utica, Illinois. Plum Island contains Indian village artifacts and burial grounds, and is also home to a fairly large population of wintering bald eagles. The planned resort would have a 250 room lodge, 25 cabins and 60 boat marina on the three quarter mile long island.
