The Issue

The SEAL (South Eastern Anti-desecration League) website carries this page on the Crystal Cove and Macedonia Industrial Park development at Rockwood, Tennessee. Located in Roane County, development of land along Watts Bar had in the area three mounds. Another mound was at the Maceonia Industrial Park site. Nick Fielder, a State Archaeologist, reported that the two mounds at the former site (Crystal Cove) would not be affected by construction, but treated in the same manner as any other cemetery. He also said that Macedonia Industrial Park, a federally funded development, was undergoing a Section 106 review, and current plans showed them avoiding the archaeological sites in the area.
