Starved Rock

A statement of the proposed plan for the Starved Rock resort:

SRI
Starved Rock Island L.L.C.
15607 South Harlem
Orland Park, IL 60462

STARVED ROCK ISLAND RESORT
UTICA, ILLINOIS

Every year, millions of people visit Starved Rock State Park and view the Island without the ability to enjoy its many fine attributes.

Starved Rock Island Resort and Spa is a planned experience affording visitors the opportunity to fully enjoy the Island, a unique natural treasure. With its 250 guest rooms, 30,000 square foot meeting, convention and ballroom space, luxurious and casual dining, 60 slip marina, plus a spa, it is a truly fine addition to the destination of Starved Rock. Private Villas are also planned to allow guests to fully appreciate the nature experience.

Yet with all of these facilites, over two thirds of the island will be dedicated to preservation, ensuring the enjoyment of the island's natural beauty.

Crushed stone paths, open meadows, natural planting and wildlife observation posts will be the featured highlights of the island. Designated areas of possible native American camps will be safeguarded for our future. The stunning view of the Island from the historic bluff across the river will be enhanced with care.

The primary development will take place on the westernmost portion of the Island. The Hotel's architecture and design will reflect the character of historic park lodges, blending with the lifestyle and adding to the beauty of Starved Rock State Park. It will greatly enrich the riverside location by providing more access to boaters, fishermen, picnickers and general tourism. In winter, ice skaters can spin on the frozen boat basin and cross-country skiers can explore the expansive Island paths.

A new boat lagoon, large enough to accommodate approximately 60 boats, will take advantage of the natural elevations of the Island and the flow of the river. The lagoon will be located adjacent to the main lodge and conference center.

Vehicle access between the island and Starved Rock State Pak will be via a new bridge located on the western portion of the Island. Parking will be secluded and out of sight from Starved Rock State Park, tucked nort of the Lodge between the Lodge and a forested ridge.

All construction will meet all applicable codes and will be in compliance with environmental issues. Our intention is to be one with Nature and to enhance the natural beauty of Starved Rock State Park.

Respectfully submitted,
