SEAL, South Eastern Anti-desecration League. "When the treaties were forced upon the indigenous peoples of the southeast there was no 'grandfather' clause to provide protection of their burial sites. Cultural developement, grave digging, artifact trafficking, and any other form of grave robbery is rampant and a moral travesty. It is far past time for the wholesale looting of native burials to stop, albeit for cultural developement or outright ghoulish robbery."
SENAA. "SENAA is an acronym for "Southeastern Native American Alliance. SENAA was founded in Cleveland, Bradley County, Tennessee, which is the site of the last Tsa-La-Gi Tribal Council meeting and the last Tsa-La-Gi tribal land holdings before the Trail of Tears. It is also the very beginning point of the Trail of Tears, where the first contingents of Tsa-La-Gi embarked upon their sorrowful trek west. SENAA was founded by Native Americans for the purpose of protecting and preserving the cultures and heritage of all American Indigenous nations and individuals, including the preservation and protection of Native American historical, sacred, and burial sites."
American Indian Ritual Object Repatriation Foundation. "We are a non-federally funded intercultural partnership committed to assisting in the return of sacred ceremonial material
to the appropriate American Indian Nation, clan, or family, and to educating the public
about the importance of repatriation."
The Alliance for Native American Indian Rights is a "non-profit, all-volunteer, intertribal organization dedicated to preserving and protecting Native American burial grounds and other culturally significant places." It states one of its purposes is to provide information to assist efforts to protect Native American burial grounds and other historical sites.
