Protest against the auction of American Indian Artifacts
Please join the Alience of Native American Indian Rights and others in a
protest against an auction of hundreds of American Indian Artifacts that
are to be actioned on Nov 9 2002 at the Sleeper's Auction Gallery at the
Elgin Cross Roads Elgin AL.
The protest will be held on adjacent private property, the skating rink.
Directions are:
At the junction of Hwy 72 and 101 turn north on 101, go one block, the
turn left and go one block.
The protest will start early. The auction pre-view begins at 8:00am and
the sale at 10:00am.
Many of the items that are to be auctioned are from excavations of
Indian sites.
Indian Burial Grounds Action Group supports and joins with the
organizers and NAIR in the support of this protest. It is just one more
example of the exploitation of our past. Some of the items that will be
auctioned are pre-historic and many nations artifacts are affected.
The organizer, Kathy Wakil can be reached at 931-565-4708. All peoples,
regardless of Color or nationallity are welcome and encouraged to
attend. She can provide info on arangments for lodgeing etc.
It is time to stand up to those who loot our sacred sites for the
expressed purpose of profit. Won't you take a stand?
