Contact your Senate and House Representatives
Email your Congressional Representative in the US House of Representatives. Enter your state and zip and it'll find your rep. A 5 digit zip code may not be sufficient. To look up the remaining 4 digits, if you don't already know them, go here.
Connect with your Senator. It's as simple as looking up your state.
Below you will find, grouped by state, links to:
a.) The State Government web site where addresses and email addresses can be found for representatives, commissioners etc.
b.) The official State web page. Here one can search for cities and newspapers.
c.) The National Association of State Archaeologists page for that state. They write, at their home page, "State Archaeologists can answer questions regarding laws, procedures, current research, educational programs, and other aspects of archaeology for each state and possession. Many State Archaeologists can be contacted by email, and some State Archaeologists maintain their own web pages which can be reached through this site." d.) Other links of possible information.
If looking for legislative information, the National Conference of State Legislatures is a good resource:
NCSL's Session links provides links to the Regular Session Calendar for the states, State Statues on the Internet,
States with Bill Text and Bill Information on the Net. Through this link one can reach that state and if available examine an index of bills.

The National Park Service Preservation Assistance Division
Information on the Historic Preservation Fund. Every year, approximately $40 million is appropriated by the U.S. Congress to the Historic Preservation Fund (HPF). The HPF provides matching grants to encourage private and non-federal investment in historic preservation efforts nationwide, and assists State, local governments, Indian tribes, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation with expanding and accelerating their historic preservation activities nationwide.
National Trust for Historic Preservation
National Register of Historic Places
Tribal Historic Preservation Officers. In 1992 the U.S. Congress adopted amendments to the National Historic Preservation Act (P.L. 102-575) that allow federally recognized Indian tribes to take on more formal responsibility for the preservation of significant historic properties on tribal lands. Specifically, Section 101(d)(2) allows tribes to assume any or all of the functions of a State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO) with respect to tribal land. The decision to participate or not participate in the program rests with the tribe.
Cultural Resources Mapping. "One key to protecting cultural resources is knowing where they are. A true assessment of the impact of construction projects on cultural resources depends upon accurate locational data...The CRGIS facility is often called upon to provide Cartographic Services for other programs in the National Park Service...The CRGIS facility has offered low-cost technical assistance to a wide variety of groups and organizations, from local battlefield preservationists at Corinth, Mississippi to cultural resource managers along the Natchez Trace Parkway to Indian tribes of the Chippewa Nation. With assistance from CRGIS, State Historic Preservation Offices are beginning to use GIS to automate historic resource inventories. A GIS database can contain a complete record of resources for any geographic area. By establishing such a database, cultural resource managers are better equipped to identify and protect historic areas." Thomas, Legislative Information on the Internet
